STATE HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING: St. Maries' Sotin nabs state title
At the start of the season, St. Maries coach Dennis Humphrey knew that senior Dylan Sotin was destined for good things. But what worried the nine-year Lumberjack coach was if they’d wrestled tough enough competition to have a chance at state. As it turned out, senior Dylan Sotin was just a little tougher than the rest.

BIG SKY FOOTBALL: Vandals close out Eastern late

COVID-19 statistics
Nice and noteworthy in North Idaho
Who says good news doesn't sell?
BIDEN: Christians oppose abortion
My response to “Biden: Amen to that!” letter of Jan. 31 is “Oh my! You must be joking.”
OPINION: Shari nailed target
The op-ed by Shari Williams was well written and accurate.
DEMOCRATS: ‘Lies and distortions’
I was happy to see the First Amendment at the top of the “letters to editor” page.
LIMBAUGH: Tale well told
Wanted to tell you how very much we enjoyed reading the great letter from the man who fired Rush Limbaugh, and to see that he is one of our neighbors here in North Idaho made it all the more enjoyable.
FOOD: Way to live better
Even though death by the COVID pandemic has killed hundreds of thousands of people in the U.S., when I read the obituary pages, the cause of death is more often listed as cancer than COVID.

Absentee ballot requests set March record
All requests must be into the Kootenai County Elections Office by 5 p.m.
BILL: Voter initiative killer
Sen. Steve Vick, R-Dalton Gardens has introduced a bill that would require ballot initiatives be signed by at least 6% of qualified electors in ALL 35 of Idaho’s legislative districts — a standard so high that it is unlikely to ever be met.
SOLUTION: To divided country
Yes, we live in a divided country, so let’s make it fair.
MY TURN: Distortions and inaccuracies
I am a teacher. On Tuesday, I read a My Turn article urging people to vote “no” on the upcoming Coeur d’Alene school levy.
CIVILITY: Lincoln’s lasting lesson
The excellent article by Harvey Mackay in the Coeur d’Alene Press lauding Abraham Lincoln got me thinking.
SNOW: Cd’A on top of it
I just wanted to say a huge Thank You to Coeur d’Alene.
GOP: Rabid for regulation
Republicans are doubling down on reducing Idahoans’ freedom.
COLUMN: Missing Shillingstad
Until I read Bob Van Wyck’s letter in Readers Write (Feb. 10), I too had wondered about the absence of Bob Shillingstad’s “Faithful Observations” column in The Press.
BARS: Cd’A gets it right
Thank you for the article about rowdiness.
VACCINE: Rollout is a mess
My recent attempts at trying to get on a COVID vaccination waiting list with Panhandle Health District, Kootenai Health or Northwest Specialty Hospital have reinforced my belief that the Idaho state Legislature couldn’t organize a Chinese fire drill on a life raft in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
AP: Press reporters are better
The last few days I’ve been reading some really good reporting on local news.
STORY: A No. 1 hit
The article in The Press by the gifted Devin Weeks, on Saturday, Feb. 20, titled “Songs For Superheroes,” is wonderful!
CONGRESS: Censuring is shameful
After hearing that each Republican senator who voted to find DJT not guilty is being censured, I am wondering why we do not just have robots sit in Congress.
BULLIES: Root of the problem
Have you ever seen an anti-bullying poster when you walked down the halls of your school?
IT’S BAD: And getting worse
John Wilkes Booth was a Confederate sympathizer in favor of slavery and wanted to help the South.
VACCINE: Cheers to KH staff
I am an avid reader of the Letters to the Editor.
GOP: Bad at the base
Can someone explain how the Republican Party can be “The Party of Lincoln” when their base is full of John Wilkes Boothes?
BIDEN: His abortion stance
It is indeed a “breath of fresh air” to have a moral, honorable human being in the White House now.
INITIATIVE: From two to zero
The ballot initiative is the constitutional right of every Idaho citizen.
INITIATIVE: Group opposes SB 1110
The League of Women Voters of Idaho strongly opposes Senate Bill 1110 as too restrictive and an infringement on the people’s right to place items on the ballot.
COLUMN: Question is continuation
I am missing the articles by Robert Shillingstad that no longer appear in the Saturday newspaper.
