LEVY: No for Cd’A

| February 14, 2021 1:00 AM

For nearly a year now Coeur d’Alene school children have spent a better part of their education out of the classroom than in the classroom. Companies and businesses across this country were quick to resolve the lack of in-person business, due to COVID concerns, by implementing Zoom meetings, trainings, classes, etc. But somehow the schools failed to join suit and set up Zoom classrooms for instructional teaching rather relying on computers being sent home, leaving many parents to take on the new job of teaching their student on a daily basis.

Some parents had to choose between the job they have, if COVID didn’t eliminate it, and teaching. Yet the school district is asking to pass a levy for $20,000,000 for operating costs as it has failed to operate in full capacity. As I write this, CHS is still only attending four out of five days a week. LakeLand S.D., on the other hand, has been in school since the beginning of October, five days a week with no mask mandate.

It is time we vote in a new School Board and vote NO on the school levy.
