LEVIES: Think before spending
School levies being voted on this coming March are an insult to the taxpayers’ intelligence. In the Feb. 24 classified section of The Press was a breakdown of the proposed “new” levies and the impact upon taxpayers’ property tax. Some have claimed that there will be no impacts and that these levies replace existing levies that are due to expire. Please, do the research.
Here is somethings to consider. Idaho ranks 50th in spending on per pupil on education. Idaho ranked 43 in 2017 of high school graduation rate and 40th overall in proficiency. Given these dismal statistics appears the state and school administrations are failing our children and their futures.
All of us want our children to have better more prosperous lives than we have. We cannot allow these bureaucrats continue to increase taxes without determining the root causes of the failures they perpetuate. You wouldn’t pay Mercedes Benz money on a Hyundai. We need to be smart about how our tax dollars are spent.
