LEVY: Answer pressing question

| February 23, 2021 1:00 AM

The upcoming Coeur d’Alene School District levy on March 9 with a $20 million price tag for the next two years was discussed with Board Member Casey Morrisroe and Coeur d’Alene School District Director of Communication Scott Maben at the Thursday meeting of the Kootenai County Reagan Republicans.

They did a great job of explaining the levy and answering all of our questions. But when the controversial topic of the counseling of an 11-year-old girl who wants to be a boy, they referred to the privacy laws of the Idaho State Constitution. A private meeting afterward resulting a “no comment.”

Shouldn’t we as taxpayers know school board members’ opinion on such a serious case? Especially since the mother of the child was never counseled and was forced to take the child out of the classroom to home school her.
