MOSCOW — Carson Seay hit three 3-pointers and scored 15 points, and the Lakeland Hawks won their first outright league title since 2016 with a 59-55 victory over the Moscow Bears in 4A Inland Empire League play Thursday night at Bear Den.

Jalen Skalskiy also hit three 3s and added 13 points for Lakeland (9-8, 4-0 4A IEL), which tied Moscow for the league title in ’17.

Jamari Simpson scored 14 points, Benny Kitchell 13 for Moscow (4-8, 1-2), which plays host to Sandpoint on Saturday. Those two teams will meet again Monday in the first round of the 4A Region 1 tournament. Lakeland plays host to the winner in Game 1 of the best-of-3 championship series starting Wednesday. Since the Hawks went undefeated in league, all three games would be in Rathdrum.

SPIRIT LAKE — With back-to-back wins to cap a stretch of three Intermountain League games in as many nights, the Tigers are heading into next week’s 3A District 1-2 tournament on a bit of a roll.

Zach Yetter scored 20 points, including the clinching three-point play with 30 seconds left for Timberlake (7-13, 2-4 IML), avenging a nine-point loss at Bonners four weeks ago.

“We knew the league was tight,” Timberlake coach Mike Menti said. “But getting these last two wins … it’s momentum, but it’s confidence, and a little bit of swagger.”

Hunter Higgins added 19 points for Timberlake.

Ethan Riley’s 3-pointer late in regulation put the Tigers up 3, but Ridge Williams of Bonners Ferry (7-7, 2-3) answered with a 3 with five seconds left to force overtime.

Williams finished with 17 points, Braeden Blackmore 16 for Bonners Ferry, which travels to Priest River (11-7, 3-1 IML) on Saturday to wrap up the regular season.

Priest River visits Kellogg (9-6, 3-2) tonight with a chance to win the league title.

Timberlake will be the No. 4 seed to districts, and travel to the No. 1 seed on Monday in the first round.
