LEVY: Yes to Cd’A request

| February 23, 2021 1:00 AM

We have lived in the Coeur d’Alene/Hayden area for the last 44 years. Our two kids attended schools in Coeur d’Alene. Our grandson has finished his education in Coeur d’Alene and our granddaughter will finish next year. Both plan to attend college and continue their education.

These goals could not be obtained without the outstanding education they received from the dedicated, hardworking teachers and staff in the Coeur d’Alene School District.

All of us know education costs money. And to my wife and me, there isn’t a more precious investment than investing in our youth.

School District No. 271 is asking our community to support quality education by going to the polls to renew the school district’s $20 million levy, a continuation of the previous levy passed on March 19, 2019, approved by 69.6% of the vote.

The dollars generated from this levy cannot be used for building schools. Levy funds are used for school resource officers, nurses, mental health resources, school activities and many other programs. Please visit www.cdaschools.org/levy.

Even though house values are increasing, the average taxpayer is seeing a relatively flat tax bill to support our schools. In fact, if passed, this levy WILL NOT raise taxes. In fact, the taxing rate may decrease!

We are on a fixed income, like many of you; we have/had children and grandchildren attend schools in School District No. 271, just like you; we pay taxes, just like you. We hope you will VOTE YES for the successful passage of this important school levy, JUST LIKE US!
