Dan M. Gatewood, 75

Dan M. Gatewood, 75, of Hayden Lake, Idaho, passed away on Jan. 25, 2021, at home. Dan was born in Chicago to Basil and Vitula Gatewood, on Jan. 21, 1946. He graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing, Mich., and attended Michigan State University. Dan served in the Air Force in Panama in the Canal Zone. After working in the retail industry for decades, he ended his corporate career as an executive when the company closed in 1999.

This past May, Dan celebrated 41 years of sobriety. Dan had a great sense of humor and a love of music, Michigan State football, Gonzaga basketball, anything having to do with his grandchildren, coffee and bacon!

Dan is preceded in death by his son, Jason, and his sister, Jacqueline Lockhart. Dan is survived by his spouse, Shirlee, of 46 years; son, Christopher, and daughter-in-law, Laura, of Spokane, Wash.; daughter-in-law, Rachelle, of Coeur d’Alene; grandchildren Madeline and Victoria of Spokane, Kyla of Pullman, Wash., and Jayden of Bellingham, Wash.; and brother, Don, of Towson, Md.
