WOMEN: Been there, overcame that

| February 17, 2021 1:00 AM

Are you kidding, Jim Valentine?

First of all, how old are you? Second, have you been watching too many “Father Knows Best” or “Leave It to Beaver” reruns? Third, have you been under a rock for the past 66 years?

Your thinking is flawed in the following ways:

Not all women get married (for a variety of reasons). Therefore they need to work to support themselves.

Currently in the US, around 50% of marriages end in divorce. Women need to work to support themselves and likely their children.

Not all men come home from work at 6 p.m. So many women, employed and not employed, have the late shift too.

Many men of past generations were not ideal husbands who would share chores and child rearing. Raising kids is hard work. Ask any man who has had to stay at home with the kids during the pandemic while the wife has continued to work outside the home.

Women have every right to fulfill their career dreams. The men of the younger generation are participating in raising their children. This is healthy and good. Not every woman wants to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen as you would have them.

Hope you had a nice Valentine’s Day, Mr. Valentine, and that you cooked your wife a nice dinner.
