OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
RIGHTS: Tale of burned bakery
Tony Stewart, your “My Turn” column has a glaring contradiction. It addresses an issue that I spoke to the Coeur d’Alene City Council about when they chose to pass the LGBT ordinance.
ELECTION: All things unequal
Mayoral candidate
MAYOR: Remarks were inappropriate
I recently participated in the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society held at the Lakeland High School in Rathdrum. It was a wonderful event.
HYDROS: A pain in the ears
Fun for everyone! Not entirely. This was our experience — Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive is a small, narrow, limited access road that many of us must use to get to and from our homes. Getting through from either end mean…
WEATHER: Alert on TV nauseating
Anyone else out there as thoroughly bugged as I was by the National Weather Alert hijacking our Seahawks game Sunday evening (or any other TV show you happened to be watching?) The constant and lengthy interruption…
BENGHAZI: Sign of bad times
You really hit a nerve in your Sept. 13 Editorial, Rathdrum 1, Benghazi 0. I not only salute the man who held the signs “Benghazi” and “Impeach Obama,” but would be honored to stand next to him holding the same sig…

I recently read a letter by Michael Teague where he called mayoral candidate

SCHOOLS: Basics absolutely needed
It was astounding to hear from an ex teacher, Mr. Dave Eubanks, who explains that kids are passed on from year to year without learning how to read a clock, learn times tables, how to add and subtract and make chan…
GAS: Kudos for superior service
Regarding Sunday’s editorial about seniors seeking help pumping gas in winter weather: Now this is what a hometown newspaper is all about. YOU are serving your subscribers, when coming to their needs.
UNIONS: Key to the middle class
Derek Kohles’s My Turn about his pro-union beliefs and commitment was gentle and well-reasoned, but did not go far enough.
HEADLINE: Sex doesn't sell
I was sickened by your headline “Sex and the City (Government)” as I realized the article was about human rights and discrimination. The City Council is to be commended for their passage of the anti-discrimination …
RATHDRUM: Tribute from happy resident
What a great community Rathdrum is to live in! I want to address how supportive everyone is for our events. First, Rathdrum Days. What a great weekend! With only five weeks to put it together it was one of the best…
WARMING: A tale of two extremes
The “man-made” global warming nuts don’t like people like me. I have a memory.
