OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
FUHL: Spoof wasn't funny
I’m guessing the “Here come 3,000 jobs” story on the front page of the paper is a April Fools' joke. It says the story is continued on page A9; there is no page A9. I don’t see the humor in the story. As bad as the…
DEE: May the bond be unbroken
In response to Child: Where she really belongs. I was a foster parent for more than 35 years with 285 children passing through my home. It doesn’t take a degree of any sort to know the bond that is created in the v…
SLAYING: What have we learned?
The patricide-fratricide that happened in Coeur d’Alene freshly haunts us all. Why? How? And after so much love through housing help from St. Vincent de Paul?
KILLINGS: Column was enlightening
Thanks to Sholeh Patrick for her in-depth article on the juvenile justice system and the irrationality of trying juveniles as adults. The recent murders are a horrifying act, but the public should consider that the…
ST. VINNIE: Great place to support
As a retired principal, I recall the numerous parents coming into the office asking for help with finances and resources ... from veterans with a difficult time finding work, parents who lost their jobs, to those w…
LGBT: Beware a hidden agenda
There is a hidden movement afoot to “add the (LGBT) words” (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgendered) to School District 271 formal policy. Local attorney and LGBT activist, Susan Moss, has been working behind the…

COUNTY: 936 reasons to change
It is time for a change! The Kootenai County Commissioners voted on 936 motions during 210 of their meetings in 2013. Of these, all 936 motions passed, and 926 (99 percent) of them passed unanimously. There were 2,…

CARTOON: Don't chase materialism
Regarding the editorial cartoon in Friday’s paper about science education: I am a Christian homeschooler who excels at math and science. Being a Christian does not affect my understanding of how acids and bases rea…
STORY: Too grim for young readers
I would like to express my displeasure with Keith Cousins’ article on the front page of the Cd’A Press Wednesday morning (to which my family subscribes). As a parent of a 12-year-old who attends Canfield MS and an …
CHILD: Where she really belongs
What is family? This is a question that has entered my mind many times as a colleague of mine has struggled to keep her family together.
TRUCKS: Don't fit in neighborhood
I am writing trying to figure out how our neighborhood can put a stop to all the semi trucks, 40-foot motorhomes, UPS trucks, Fed Ex semis, and others parking along Reed Street just north of Wyoming.
LETTER: Some missed the point
It appears that the point I was trying to make in my letter of 3-9-14 went right over some people’s heads. I hate child porn as much as the next person. I think that anyone who rapes a child should be boiled in oil…
PASTRY: All's not sweet in capital
I was so disheartened to hear that the White House pastry chef had to resign because Michelle wanted him to stop using so much sugar and butter in his confections. Gosh, I hope he finds another hundred grand a year…
