KILLINGS: Column was enlightening

Thanks to Sholeh Patrick for her in-depth article on the juvenile justice system and the irrationality of trying juveniles as adults. The recent murders are a horrifying act, but the public should consider that the child who perpetrated the acts is the third victim of his actions. His home life was obviously not one that most of us would want for our own children. This kid needs intensive counseling, guidance, and love for a chance to live a normal, productive life.

This would be the humane response, and would be much less expensive than keeping him in prison for decades.
