LGBT: Beware a hidden agenda

| March 30, 2014 9:00 PM

There is a hidden movement afoot to “add the (LGBT) words” (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgendered) to School District 271 formal policy. Local attorney and LGBT activist, Susan Moss, has been working behind the scenes with certain Cd’A School Board members to erase distinctions based on sexual orientation in our schools.

Parents and grandparents, do you want your school children sharing locker rooms and bathroom facilities with the opposite sex?

Some have asked what effect “add the words” would have on district 271? According to Superintendent Matt Handelman’s email to Board chairman Tom Hearn and others, citing a Bay City News Service article dated 1/1/14, it could mean this: “Transgender students at schools throughout the state will be able to use bathrooms, locker rooms, and play sports with the gender they identify with starting in the New Year. The law allows students at public K-12 schools to participate in sex-segregated school programs and activities based on their matching gender, and use facilities based on their identifying gender, regardless of the gender listed on school records.” This is not a slippery slope. This is jumping off the cliff!

What exactly have school board trustees Tom Hearn and Christa Hazel, Supt. Handelman and Ms. Moss been working toward? What is their goal? Why was Tony Stewart invited into the discussion months ago, while the public has been left out?

It’s time for the public to know what’s really going on. It’s time to contact Supt. Matt Handelman and the School Board Trustees and tell them “no thank you” to “add the words.” Our school should be teaching our kids the ABC’s, not LGBT!
