ILLEGALS: Not what Cd'A wants
This is a tale of two cities: One Waukegan, Ill., the city I was born and raised in; the other, Coeur d’Alene, where I now reside. Coeur d’Alene is much like Waukegan was until the mid-80s — a nice place to grow up…
TOWER: Rathdrum considers another
Why another cell tower? Atlas tower holdings is wanting a permit for a telecommunications facility with a 150-foot steel monopole and 50-by-50 fenced compound. It will be at 17532 Atlas Road, Rathdrum. Also a reque…
MASS.: Sets standard for immigrant kids
I was heartened and proud of my former home state of Massachusetts for agreeing to accept children from Central America who are fleeing violence, poverty and killings by drug cartels.
LETTER: Arrogant as its accusations
Pot calling the kettle, Mr. Membury. I can remember your heated comments on a wide range of subjects, blustering against Jimmy Pappas and his opinions. So I’m arrogant, am I? That’s funny considering that my column…

People. Am I missing something or what? Directing your attention to the Coeur d’Alene Press story dated July 17 regarding the latest chapter of the CoiNuts caper and the alleged or so-called prosecution of the Kevi…
ALBRIGHT: Column takes reader back
Syd Albright always writes an excellent article, which is always enlightening. His mention of the 148th. Field Artillery and the 41st. National Guard Division brought back memories. I enlisted at age 16 in Company …
CORE: GOP eager to stunt education
It appears the Republican National Committee has convinced those with their head in the sand, that our level of primary/high school education is a-okay. They are apparently content with our youth graduating from hi…
ARFEE: Take that gun away
The Coeur d’Alene Police Department does not have a training problem — they have a hiring problem!
DOGS: In honor of pit bull Eli
I have been debating, but I would like to jump into this black Lab-pit bull fiasco in defense of pit bulls. I have an 8-year-old pit bull in my household (not my dog), and he is nothing but a big overgrown baby; he…
