TOWER: Rathdrum considers another

| August 3, 2014 9:00 PM

Why another cell tower? Atlas tower holdings is wanting a permit for a telecommunications facility with a 150-foot steel monopole and 50-by-50 fenced compound. It will be at 17532 Atlas Road, Rathdrum. Also a request for a variance in the 2-mile radius separation between other cell towers. If allowed there will be three towers — two just off 53 and this one a mile off 53.

We have lived here 20 years as of Aug. 1. We have had cell phones for 17 years. So why do we need a tower over our homes and to look at from our backyards? Those who live on Wilkeson Road may not know they will get to look at them from their yards as well. Then there is all the data on radiation from the towers. Just type it on your computer and all kinds of info comes up.

So please voice your opinion on this and come to the meeting, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m., room 2014 1A/B of the Kootenai County Administration building at 451 Government Way.
