OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
PENALTY: Litany for Nittany Lions
While some Penn State football players and parents decry the NCAA sanctions, the penalties levied underscore a fundamental truth: an individual’s actions do not occur in isolation.
SCOUTS: An exemplary stance
Sunday’s paper ran a cartoon showing a man chiding a Boy Scout over the Scout’s ban against gays becoming scout leaders; the picture portrayed the Boy Scouts as prejudiced, discriminating, homophobic and backwards.…
GUNS: One would have spared tragedy
There is no doubt that many people are blaming guns for the tragedy in the Colorado movie theater, but that would be comparable to blaming planes for the nearly 3,000 people who died on 9/11.
PRESS: Bent rules for Orzell
First, I’d like to say that I have always appreciated The Press printing my “letter’s to editor” so that I may voice my opinion’s over the years.
BIKES: Path there for a good reason
To the cyclists who routinely ride on Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive: no matter what combination of alien-shaped helmet/distastefully colored spandex you wear, you are incapable of sustaining 45 mph. I know you are of th…
OBAMA: We have seen plenty
Babe Ruth once said “You ain’t seen nothin’, yet!”
ZONING: As a nightmare unfolds

SCHOOLS: Need adequate facilities
Thank you Mr. Koler for presenting the opportunity for a response. The August bond election is important and our discourse hopefully will get the readers asking questions. In your letter, there are some assumptions…
CANDIDATES: Bust a myth now
I’ve noticed a recent flurry of letters recommending not voting for a particular party but for the “best man” (or woman).
AMERICA: Not what it once was
Joe asked me if I would lead the recent Newport High School all class reunion in the pledge of allegiance to our flag which I was very happy to do. I tried to emphasize God and Republic. I led the pledge with serio…
