OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
HAYDEN: See it in all its glory
I’ve always known that Hayden is a great place to live, work and raise children. I’ve lived here for more than 30 years and can’t imagine living anyplace else. So why did I just now notice the flags lining both sid…
FOOD: To all who fed their neighbors
To my Coeur d’Alene Press subscribers, a huge thank you to all who contributed to the Food Drive! I am still in awe of how much we collected. Not that I am biased, but I have the greatest subscribers in the world. …
ELECTION: New wide-open space
Something I wasn’t aware of, since we didn’t live here at the time, was that the Reagan Republicans wouldn’t have supported the Salvation Army Kroc Center and the Coeur d’Alene Public Library. Reagan Republican Jef…
SENTENCE: Man deserved far more
As I started my day Thursday I had no idea it would begin with disgust and disappointment. I am appalled, mortified, outraged, disturbed, furious, heart broken and bewildered at how our judicial system/judge has FA…
ELECTION: Don't play blame game
It is always interesting to hear Jeff Ward’s assessment of local elections. He does a pretty crummy job of blaming the other side, the media and of course President Obama for his group’s losses.
OBAMA: Oust him from office
A few years back, President Richard Nixon hired some men to break into a Democratic office to receive information on their strategy. It did not affect the American public at large, but it was enough for him to step…
TEACHER: Best can be a bit better
Congratulations to Jamie Esler for being named teacher of the year. Coeur d’Alene certainly needs good teachers. Seems as though he could use an English teacher to teach him the correct use of pronouns. The article…

GOP: Time for us to compromise
I want to comment on and expand on the excellent letter of Mike Reno’s in the Saturday Press. The current wrangling by the Republicans among themselves is not doing anyone any good. While I agree with most of the T…
VIRUS: Use this free download
An important fact left out of the coverage on CryptoLocker Virus is a means to protect ourselves by preventing the virus from executing. There is a free utility that works with all versions of windows from Windows …
TRUST: Payback due in future elections
There was a time when people “trusted” Barack Obama. One can compare this time with a similar time in your own life. This time was when you put your trust in someone you want to be with. Someone you respect. Someon…
CANCER: Curb pancreatic killer
It is unacceptable that there is a cancer for which the relative five-year survival rate is still in the single digits at just 6 percent, particularly when you consider that the overall five-year relative survival …
VETERANS: Some shocking information
On Nov. 10, Retired Lt. Col. Baltzell had a letter in The Press discussing ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and the military. It made me just a little curious. If this is really out there…
RIVERSTONE: In defense of arches
I would like to correct Alison Granier with respect to her article regarding McDonald’s.
LETTER: Blame in the wrong direction
This is in response to the letter from Tracy Collins published in The Press on Nov. 10 entitled “A Lie is still A Lie.” The irony is that when Bush lied about WMDs in Iraq, thousands of people died. When what Obama…
