GOP: Time for us to compromise

| November 15, 2013 8:00 PM

I want to comment on and expand on the excellent letter of Mike Reno’s in the Saturday Press. The current wrangling by the Republicans among themselves is not doing anyone any good. While I agree with most of the Tea Party proposals, I recognize that there are many who do not. I also believe the liberals are ruining our country and they have succeeded getting so many people on the give-away rolls that electing a conservative is almost impossible.

What I see in the Republican Party today are several groups with varying positions or goals (all on the conservative side), but each group saying my way or the highway. Given today’s situation it is unlikely any of us will get everything we want, therefore each of us must compromise (except on the honesty and integrity factor). Half a pie is better than no pie at all.

If we independents and Republicans do not very soon zero in on one candidate and all of us work hard and together to support and promote him/her, even if we do not totally agree with everything he espouses, we will not stand a chance against Hillary. There are just too many voters being bought or stolen by the Democrats.
