OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
VOTE: ‘With intellect, logic and good reasonings’
I was a freshman in high school when President Kennedy was assassinated. He was a complete opposite to what we have in U.S. leadership now.
QUMRAN CAVES: Bedouins and Essenes
A Bedouin shepherd found the first Dead Sea Scrolls in a cave at Qumran (1946/47). Qumran National Park is 28 miles east of Jerusalem.
TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT: Spend to synchronize lights, not on center
I am curious about the time and funds being spent on the creation of a regional traffic management center. Why can’t you (Kootenai Metropolitan Planning Organization) focus our resources on the implementation of sy…
TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT CENTER: Something to be skeptical of
I write to give credit to the Coeur d’Alene Press for recognizing that the Traffic Center survey is flawed and won’t provide a true picture of how people in the county feel about the plan.
TRAFFIC CAMERAS: Exchanging freedom for security
What good will control cameras do when the main streets and highways around Coeur d’Alene have way more traffic than they were designed for? Installing one more system to watch us will not solve the problem of not …
IMMIGRANTS: Tell us how many are here
Give us the numbers. We have a major crisis at the Mexican border that doesn’t get the attention it should. Citizens should know what our government is spending and on what. After all, it’s our tax dollars that are…
PRIVACY RIGHTS: At risk with Labrador
Anyone aware of our Attorney General Raúl Labrador signed a letter which would allow the state to obtain medical records of women who sought an abortion out of state? Yes, he signed a letter that Fitch, Mississippi…

LEGISLATORS: Want to take away your rights
“Think of the children!” Since an anti-library bill (H.B. 314) failed, people across the state are attempting to control not only public libraries but the Idaho people as well. While ranting about safety, they igno…
AP HEADLINE: Was biased
Regarding the article in the July 13 issue with headline “Estate of anti-fascist files wrongful death suit.” The article is produced by the Associated Press. I am not sure who decided on the headline. How the indiv…
NIC: Banducci, McKenzie should step down
Thank you, Coeur d’Alene Press and Kaye Thornbrugh, for your thorough coverage of the ongoing and disheartening situation at North Idaho College. Thankfully, once again, the college has been provided a temporary de…
HOUSING: More ‘right-size’ options needed
I prefer progress over regression but as I age I recognize the limits of my current home. I foresee a time soon when I will need to return to apartment living instead of the single family ranch-style home I current…
WEATHER REPORT: Accentuate the positive
A few weeks ago, while reading the forecasted weather, imagine my surprise and delight in reading, “…partly sunny…” instead of “partly cloudy.” It made me smile and to think a little more deeply about how forecasts…
