OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
POLICE: Too easy on violent neighbor
I want to draw notice to a recent incident, which occurred at my house one evening last week. My 5-year-old son was grabbed by the neck and then arms by our neighbor lady (grown woman) while playing outside. Her ac…
PERRY: Heat is on this candidate
In 2010, the Texas Association of Firefighters backed Rick Perry for governor. Today they're paying for it - literally. The Texas Forest Service says, "No one on the face of this Earth has fought fires under these …
KHS: Animals, people mistreated
I agree with Ed Hobby's letter regarding the Humane Society. I recently decided I wanted to volunteer to help out. After taking a tour I was appalled at the conditions, especially where the dogs are housed. I felt …
SHOOTING: Insanity by shooter, U.S.
I read about the horrific crime that took place in Carson City, Nev., recently. It was reported that a Mexican citizen with a U.S. passport went to an IHOP restaurant and shot a woman in the parking lot. He then pr…
STIMULUS: Where are the facts, please?
Mr. StormoGipson, in your letter to the editor I take it that anyone who disagrees with you is ignorant or dishonest. Great way to get your points across. All I heard from you was a rehash of party bullet points wi…
POLITICS: Partisan approach sheds light
What a double talking editorial by The Press on Sept. 14. The editorial states it's poisonous to listen to the Reagan Republicans. You're negative against those who seek to educate, then you urge us to educate ours…

PLOWING: Foot the bill, Mr. H
I was just sitting here thinking about the article in this morning's paper (Sept. 13) "Night snow plowing on ice." Last year it cost the ITD $229,000 for group costs. Only $166,000 was allocated for this year. Most…
JOBS: Your job is to help, Raul
Congressman Labrador: In response to your newsletter on "The American Jobs Solution," you fail to inform that it is your job to make the laws, pass the laws and solve the people's problems. (We learned this in gove…
TREES: Root of dike stability
Recently there has been a growing issue over the ponderosa trees on the dike road by the waterfront. As I understand it, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wish to have those trees removed, claiming "the vegetation d…
KVNI: Sold out and turned off
I can't believe that our radio station, KVNI, has sold out to ESPN! I have lived in this area for more than 35 years and always enjoyed the music that they played, especially the "Oldies." I turn the radio on to li…
BEAR: Headless letters accepted
I have traveled to most parts of the world and recently returned from Africa where I encountered hippopotami, cape buffalo, hyenas and a multitude of other forms of wildlife I would prefer facing than a grizzly bea…
