GOEDDE: Comes to soldiers' rescue

I would like to publicly thank Sen. John Goedde for his help in getting the first group of North Idaho soldiers home after their 13-month deployment. After completing the demobilization process at Ft. Lewis the soldiers were told they would be transported home the following day. After the third day of inactivity and being told there was a problem with the travel system, even though flights were available every hour, the soldiers started to become very agitated. Several of them offered to pay their own way home; however they were told if they left the base on their own they would be AWOL and prosecuted.

Being desperate for answers, Senator Goedde was contacted and told of the situation. Within hours of the phone call 20 soldiers from North Idaho were put on a bus and sent home. Thanks again, Senator Goedde.
