POLICE: Too easy on violent neighbor
I want to draw notice to a recent incident, which occurred at my house one evening last week. My 5-year-old son was grabbed by the neck and then arms by our neighbor lady (grown woman) while playing outside. Her actions left bruises and scratches on his neck and both arms. When confronted, she yelled and slapped my husband's hand away for addressing her.
I contacted Post Falls police to report the incident who came and interviewed us, my son (still distraught) and our neighbor. She admitted to the allegations. What happened? PFPD only gave her a citation. Where is the protection here? She will have a court date but that's about all, most likely, for someone without priors. Meanwhile, I'm afraid to let my son play in the yard.
What if she had harmed him more seriously? Would she still have just been cited? Come on. How can we protect our babies without the support of law enforcement? I'm seriously disappointed in how this was handled by PFPD. We must protect our children!
