POLITICS: Partisan approach sheds light

| September 21, 2011 10:00 PM

What a double talking editorial by The Press on Sept. 14. The editorial states it's poisonous to listen to the Reagan Republicans. You're negative against those who seek to educate, then you urge us to educate ourselves. Is it that you want to control the source of information we get?

Reagan Republicans are local citizens who are informing the public about who would be good candidates for offices - those that have integrity and a conservative viewpoint, like the majority of voters here in our area.

Why would anyone turn out the lights to vote? Your editorial states this in a way. We don't want people blindly voting for anyone.

You've said party politics/political ideology should not be involved in local elections. What a dream world statement. Everyone has philosophies that follow them in everything they do and say. Democrats or Republicans will follow their party's philosophy and bring it into any office they hold, especially regarding taxes, bonds, and the size of government.

Not having a "D" or an "R" before their name has allowed Democrats to hold the majority of local offices on school boards, city councils, mayoral posts, etc. "Non-partisan" races are used to hide liberals who seek to rule over the conservative majority without their consent and to keep people blind to who they are voting for. Is The Press for this?

A true poison is voting for someone who is the opposite of what you, as a citizen, want because you had no idea of what policies follow a candidate.

The Press editorial was a clever attack on the majority of citizens. You call us "great dividers." You just might have helped us unite more people by your editorial. Thank you.
