EDITORIAL: He left N. Idaho far better than he found it
Tribute to former NIC president who died in Iowa at age 86
Being a Mets fan didn't kill her
Every now and then, we find something to chuckle about in the most unlikely place in the newspaper, the obituary section. Usually, it's an obit about someone with spunk, who liked to laugh and didn't take themselves too seriously.

CANCER: Lamenting the dead
While I am encouraged and applaud each story of a breast cancer survivor in the Coeur d’Alene Press, I am heartsick over the tragic loss of dear ones who have not survived. I especially grieve over the very recent loss of a fabulous woman whose obit was printed just a week ago on Oct. 22. Please consider highlighting the heroic and significant life of someone who died of metastatic breast cancer during the month of October, even as survivor stories abound to give courage to those who are recently diagnosed, are undergoing treatment and who hope for a long life — and which additionally urge all women to do self-breast exams and have regular exams and mammograms by their medical providers.
Let your academic stars shine
Six weeks ago, Coeur d'Alene Police Sgt. Greg Moore was shot and killed. In the ensuing month and a half, most of the headlines have been none too pleasant.
OBITS: Should be ad-free
I read the obituaries online almost daily. I’d like to give honor to the lives of people that pass before us. I find it disrespectful to see an advertisement between the photo and the story of this person’s life. Please remove these ads.
OBITS: Hat tip to the writer
Recently visited Coeur d’Alene and was incredibly impressed with your obituary writer. The obituaries are works of art. I have read a book by Heather Lende who is an obituary writer in Haines, Alaska, and never thought I’d actually read obituaries that were so personal other than ones that I have read that she has written. Please give my thanks and regards to the writer.
