COLUMN: Nothing but bad science
I read the article by Jim Pearl that this newspaper felt was worth a third of a page.
CHAMBER: Why funds are needed
In answer to the Letter to the Editor asking for an explanation of why the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce is fundraising for themselves. I have been a small business member of the chamber for many years and have…
REBUTTAL: Take that, conservatives
Thank you, Bonnie Brown, for your great column about management. Mr. Peterson, quit being so serious. She said manage, not get rid of. If fracking is so cost effective, why is Avista asking for a rate increase? May…
CAMP: Volunteers richly rewarded
I had a wonderful experience this summer as a reading volunteer for 7- to 9-year-olds at the 2015 Kids Camp at Fernan Elementary School. It was a six-week program, two mornings a week. There were 60 wonderful kids …

FLAG: Ode to a floral tribute
For the last several years there has been a floral flag on Fourth Street in front of Coeur d’Alene High School. It was such a lovely sight to see and so appreciated by this military family. It hasn’t been planted f…
JAIL: Let the light shine bright
My husband and I are very glad to see that you are covering the Kootenai County Jail and the scandalous conditions under which it is run. Several years ago, my brother-in-law called me and asked me for some help de…
FUGITIVE: An odd and scary night
On July 31, a law-enforcement helicopter began flying over our neighborhood around 10:30 p.m., shining its spotlight on fields, woods and houses. It would light up several acres at a time or an entire room, by pene…
