FINANCES: An idea for schools, chamber
Both the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce and the school system are addressing financial concerns. The chamber is struggling to rectify an unwise cash flow situation mostly due to a $21,000 monthly mortgage payment. Thanks to some community charity their financial hole is not as deep. The schools, while not in a serious situation, are looking to make more prudent choices of monetary allocations.
Tongue in cheek options:
Chamber, sell your building and lease back the required office space for your operations. Any loan restructuring possible? The posturing for community charity hopefully has ended.
Coeur d’Alene Schools: Lease out excess space in HQ building (thousands of available square feet per school official), possibly to the chamber after they sell their building. Although Mr. Eubanks’ idea of selling the building didn’t pan out, I applaud his focus of fiscal responsibility to the schools and taxpayers.
