OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
REBUTTAL: Roots of freedom
Sasha, I am glad that you feel so comfortable in your ability to “come to the middle ground of reason and understanding.” In your Jan. 15 letter to the editor you stated that you are a “dedicated social Democrat…an…
RANT: Tip the housekeepers
Some have a bone to pick and I’ve got a whole ribcage, so forgive me if I rant like George Carlin.
CHURCHES: A true blessing
One of the things I like about Coeur d’Alene is the quantity and quality of churches. My husband and I are senior citizens and have found a little church called House of Faith. We love the quiet family atmosphere a…
OFFICER: Needs to be fired
In a letter to the editor Jan. 11, Rick Linscott put it bluntly and honestly. Officer Brenda Knight, PFPD, gets off with a deferred sentence for excessive DUI. What a spit in the face to all of us citizens who the …
THEY: A very big word
The most dangerous word in the English language might be “they.” It is used often and very loosely in many letters to the editor. That is most dangerous when it lumps a large population into an ambiguous category. …
TRUMP: Our turn now
To the people who voted for Hillary and who are having trouble dealing with the prospect of our country embracing capitalism once again, I promise to show you as much empathy/sympathy as you did when half the count…

If I were the mother of the mom whose son was ticketed for having his license plate covered by snow, here is my advice to her.
ABORTION: Pro-life preference

COLUMN: Let us laugh
Yes, Tom Neuhoff, people who live in North Idaho have a warm heart and spunky spirit! Miss your columns and the laughs! I hope the Coeur d’Alene Press will let you do another one this year!
RESPONSE: Give Trump time
Ms. Sherman echoes the strong reaction of most Democrats and even many Republicans regarding the election of Trump. I can feel their pain. If Clinton had been elected I too would fear for our country.
RESPONSE: Trumpets for Trump
Apparently Carol Sherman belongs to the Hollywood California club that still hasn’t realized Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party lost the election to Donald Trump and the intelligent and educated majority of t…
JAIL: A mother's complaint
My son was sentenced to 25 days in jail beginning Dec. 5, for a misdemeanor. He faithfully showed up and served his time. Yet, on Jan. 5, three deputies showed up with a bench warrant and took him to jail for anoth…
