ABORTION: Pro-life preference

| January 20, 2017 12:00 AM

It’s pretty tiresome answering the same silly, self-absorbed arguments in favor of killing babies. Only once in my life have I had an open, honest discussion about abortion with a woman who would not give an inch. Without changing her position, she admitted it was a baby, it was a unique human being and not a part of her body and it was innocent. After that confession, she finished with, “but it’s legal and I want to have the right to kill it if I want to.” A horrifying decision, of course, but the only honest one I’ve ever heard. She and I parted with mutual respect — and disagreement.

Millie Hayes’ letter, Jan. 13, is too busy worrying about people eating people and protecting her body from all the guys lusting after it. She is concerned that men (some are called “fathers”) having opinions about what happens to their or others’ babies somehow diminishes her “right” to kill those babies. She might be interested to know that the majority of pro-lifers are in fact women. While she can certainly, illogically reject all male comments, there is still One she had better consider — He said, “Thou shalt not kill.”
