RESPONSE: Give Trump time
Ms. Sherman echoes the strong reaction of most Democrats and even many Republicans regarding the election of Trump. I can feel their pain. If Clinton had been elected I too would fear for our country.
Ms. Sherman stated that “when [Trump’s] mouth is open, he is lying.” Can we say the same of Clinton when she was secretary of state and during emailgate? Trump is not even president and he is “on a path to destroy everything that we have ever stood for, ever worked for, and everything that we hold dear.” Really? He wants to facilitate creating more jobs, he wants to replace a failing health care program, he is against illegal immigration, he wants to lower taxes and he wants to keep potential and real terrorists from entering our country to name a few of his policies. I don’t have to like the man to like his agenda for our country.
Ms. Sherman goes on to say that we (I guess she means conservatives) never accepted a black man as president (yes, throw in that race card) or would never vote for a woman as president. Nonsense. It was Obama’s policies, not the color of his skin, that made him unpopular with the right. A woman as president would be wonderful, but Hillary was not that woman.
Let’s give Trump a chance with all of our checks and balances in place. Just as I had hoped for Obama, but, alas, I was disappointed.
