REBUTTAL: Roots of freedom

Sasha, I am glad that you feel so comfortable in your ability to “come to the middle ground of reason and understanding.” In your Jan. 15 letter to the editor you stated that you are a “dedicated social Democrat…and an ardent fiscal conservative Republican.” Your statement is an oxymoron. In addition, one who believes that all the Republicans understand is the Bible and the Second Amendment and one who also believes that the Constitution is a “living document” to be altered, is truly a left-wing liberal.

The Constitution contains the roots upon which our country was founded. Those roots support a great tree and its branches, the branches that have grown into this great country. Altering the roots risks destroying the great tree and its unique branches; the branches that have made the United States of America one that is like no other.
