OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
SHOOTING: Hold judge accountable
What judge here in Kootenai County released Steven Denson after being arrested for strangling his “fiancé” with a $2,500 bail where he only had to come up with 10 percent to get bailed out? In very simple math, tha…
OBAMA: Not popular here
Del Cameron, at least you got one part of my letter right: Obama is a slime bag! He says that his liberal press (CNN), New York Times love the idiot and majority of Americans do (ha, ha, ha), yeah, yeah, NOT! You m…
CDA: An 'oe' suggestion
To the noble residents of Cœur d’Alene,
OPINION: On schools, casinos
Over the years, I have noticed that the states that have the lowest rated schools seem to have the mining companies, and I could not help but wonder if this is on purpose. If a person gets a good enough education t…
SENATORS: Now hear this
A group of concerned citizens in North Idaho has been assembling weekly at the offices of U.S. Senators Risch and Crapo. For six weeks, the request has been a simple one — schedule an open meeting in Kootenai Count…
RUSSIA: We need the truth
With all of the “Alternative Facts” being presented, one does not really know which facts to believe. We do know that Russia did hack into some of the emails of the DNC, but apparently not the RNC. Interesting! We …
LETTER: Strike offensive word

HEALTH: A better prescription
Republicans released their long awaited health care plan, and it’s a doozy. Their plan applies their standard “specialty tax credit” strategy to health care. This plan uses the same economic theory that has generat…
TRUMP: Leaping toward impeachment
I noticed that your articles about the Republican Town Hall meeting and the Lincoln Day Dinner sponsored by the Republican Party failed to mention the many protesters gathered at both events. This omission suggests…
LAKELAND: A Spanish Hawk
My name is Pedro Rodriguez and I’m a foreign student from Spain who is currently studying at Lakeland. I have been here already six months and to tell you the truth, Lakeland has stolen my heart. It’s hard to be aw…
SURPLUS: Here's an idea
I’m writing concerning HB 67, the proposed income tax cut and another legislative gift to the wealthy. It is a shortsighted approach to a long-term problem. A temporary budget surplus exists only because Idaho is u…
SKYWAY: Cause for concern
Wake up, Coeur d’Alene School District! You claim to have such an excellent track record with spending money where you say you will, but evidence says otherwise!
LAKELAND: Writer in error
I would like to write a brief rebuttal to refute the claims of letter writer Jerry Larson about Lakeland School District. Larson claimed Lakeland promised laptops for in-coming ninth-graders in its last three levie…
