SHOOTING: Hold judge accountable

| March 15, 2017 1:00 AM

What judge here in Kootenai County released Steven Denson after being arrested for strangling his “fiancé” with a $2,500 bail where he only had to come up with 10 percent to get bailed out? In very simple math, that’s only $250. Anyone can get that amount of money together.

Then what did he do??? He found his ex-fiancé sitting in her car and shot her in the head and she died, leaving five children without their mom. Then the murderer killed himself a few towns away. What a coward. WHICH JUDGE SET HIS BAIL AND RELEASED THIS MAD MAN???? We need to make sure when his re-election comes up, he isn’t re-elected.

We need strict laws in order to protect battered women. She did the right thing by getting away from him, she went to the courts and got an order of protection to keep herself and her children safe. She did everything that battered women are told to do to get away from men who beat them, but once again she, like many other women like her was LET DOWN BY OUR JUDICIAL SYSTEM.

She isn’t just a statistic but a mom, a student working hard to become a nurse and a woman who was not protected. I don’t know her personally, but each woman that this happens to is in my heart and is one too many women that we have lost to domestic violence. My prayers are with her family, friends and especially her children.
