SKYWAY: 'Incident' was serious

I feel a need to publicly call out the blatant lies perpetuated by Skyway Elementary and the Coeur d’Alene School District. Following a police incident last week, where 10 officers had guns drawn on a suspect next to the school, the school and the district sent out extremely rude emails.

The first, sent about an hour after school, called it a “traffic incident.” Then there was an email from the principal saying sorry, couldn’t do anything, it was after school hours. What is so mind-blowing is the fact that there are about 30 photos floating around social media showing officers in the parking lot before 3:30 (all time-stamped, mind you). In addition, there were parents in the parking lot waiting to pick up kids who state the police were there AT LEAST 10 minutes before school was out. Even more disturbing is the fact that the vice principal was in the parking lot as well, before school was out.

The email from the school goes on to say that if you want your kid to be safe, you should pick them up at the school. Guess that means all the kids who walk and bike (since that is most of the student population at Skyway) don’t matter.

The outright lies are discouraging. Admit you made a mistake and plan better for the future.
