OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
INSURANCE: Feels like bias
It is a sad, sad day when insurance providers will recognize and provide coverage in cases of “Domestic Partnership” of same-sex couples, but don’t offer the same respect to an unmarried man and woman who share a 5…
LETTER: In a word, wrong
In an April 5 letter to the editor, Ronald Deady began by describing a phone call he participated in with Governor Otter that noted both the governor’s and Mr. Deady’s support for the Common Core standards adopted …
SCHOOLS: Safety comes first
The No. 1 priority of our schools should be the safety and well-being of our students. Unfortunately, we know more than one predator has been hired by the Coeur d’Alene School District due to lack of due diligence …
GOVERNOR: Thanks for nothing
Well the “honorable” Butch Otter has again exhibited his penchant for being a real tool. Thanks, Butch, for vetoing one of the best legislative accomplishments coming out of Boise in a long time. The grocery tax ha…
BROOKS: Consumer's best pal
I would like to express my appreciation to the CDA Consumer Guy, Bill Brooks, for resolving an issue I had with a communications company. After weeks of wrangling, I contacted Bill who resolved the matter after one…
STATISTICS: Truth and lies
Last week was a letter to the editor in which the writer claimed there are 94 million people out of work in the United States. This statement is true, however as truly representing the unemployed, it is a lie. With…

MARGARET AVE: More like speedway
If the authorities would issue speeding citations on Margaret Avenue they could pay for McEuen Park, schools, plus a new jail.
LIBERALS: Wood realities
Great letter to to the editor Sunday by Bob Ridout about the liberals and their way of thinking.
MEDICAL: Beware your bills
I received a billing from PAML for lab work conducted for a routine physical. It indicated no problems but requested that I pay a balance that seemed unusual as most of the lab work was common for an annual physica…
RECYCLING: Another view
I’ve figured out the glass recycling program. I rinse jars and bottles in energy intense hot water so germs won’t grow and pests be attracted.
WASTE: Stick it elsewhere
So the Feds want to ship some liquid from Vermont to Idaho. Folks, they are not talking about maple syrup, but 200,000 gallons of low level waste liquid for Idaho to store and deal with. Why does our great state ha…
