GOVERNOR: Thanks for nothing
Well the “honorable” Butch Otter has again exhibited his penchant for being a real tool. Thanks, Butch, for vetoing one of the best legislative accomplishments coming out of Boise in a long time. The grocery tax has needed repeal for years, as it punishes the people who can least afford it. It is an unfair tax and your “reason” for your veto does not make sense to your constituents.
You stated “the costs of the proposal are too high for the small amount of relief it would provide.” My question is who buys your groceries, Butch? Savings could amount to up to four additional meals a month per constituent. Some would consider that a considerable amount of relief, but I forgot it has been a while since you really worked for a living. Just another elected official who is completely out of touch with the little guy.
But it’s OK, Mr. Governor. Speaking of the little guy, you have shown us how small you can be when you really try.
