ENVIRONMENT: A sip of reality
In Sunday’s, April 9, opinion called “WARMING,” Bob Ridout had some real negative comments about environmentalists and global warming. My main comment to him is that you wouldn’t have decent water to drink if it wasn’t for them, so don’t be knocking them.
No, we can’t fix everything, but why aren’t the companies doing the damage accountable for anything? The taxpayers seem to be the parties footing the bill for such things as cleanup and contamination. Those cleanups don’t come cheap.
The speed at which the ice is melting should concern everyone, but the government approves everything, no matter what the environmental consequences. If it means a dollar in their coffers, it will get approved. Just look at the railroad’s refueling station at Rathdrum over the aquifer. Don’t we all wonder about that? There is no common sense when it comes down to money and government. Now, tell me again what the EPA does? Oh, yeah, collect their pay checks.
