OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
4-H: Lifeblood of the fair
The community and culture of North Idaho would not be the same without 4-H. Losing the Extension office will affect more than predicted.
4-H: Spare it from chopping block
They want to do what? Kill 4-H! Isn't that kind of like shooting Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny or burying Mom, Flag and Apple Pie? Four-H is an integral part of Americana.
CFLs: Lighting way for future
n his letter to the editor of July 22, Mr. Gardner of Coeur d'Alene implies that the mandatory use of compact fluorescent bulbs beginning in 2012 is President Obama's fault. Not so. The change from incandescent bul…
STREETS: City crew applauded
Finally... Every manhole cover and utility cover is reset to grade and the road is smooth. They got it right!
LIBERALS: Elected by numb voters
I read an Internet news article that is typical and always amazes me. Every time a liberal opens their mouth and casts dispersions against a Republican the Republican Party, Tea Party, etc., they are really talking…
AARP: No fan of organization
On July 17 your paper published a front page article using the AARP and their scare tactics on us seniors, to make points. I am a senior in my 70s and I know, just as all seniors should know, that any bill on any t…
STODGY: Not by a long shot

4-H: Fair enough, here's an invite
Obviously Mr. Hayes knows absolutely nothing about the 4-H program, or he never would have suggested that displaced 4-Hers could join the Boys and Girls Club at the Kroc Center. Let's show him! We need to invite hi…
SPENDING: It's simple math
I watched the House debate the balanced budget amendment last week, and I was truly amazed at some of the House members' fear of not being able to spend more than we take in. It was like they just took it for grant…
POLITICS: No sign of real life
I'm pretty tired of watching John Boehner and other Republicans whine about how we must not raise taxes on well-to-do citizens because it will negatively affect job creation. The Republican Party is now coming out-…
TMDL: A loss for Kootenai County
Do the residents of Kootenai County have any idea of the potentially devastating economic impact that Washington Department of Ecology's TMDL water quality requirement will have on them? After hearing presentations…
