OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
LETTER: Marxist Obama isn't
I quit reading Mr. Setty's letter the moment that he started hysterically attacking President Obama as a "Marxist Socialist." No actually, the government does not now and certainly never has owned major assets outs…
RIVER: Show a little respect
I was saddened by the front page picture of the "Rolling down the River" article. I lived in the Silver Valley for 15 years, in Kingston, and have floated the river many times. It was always maddening to see disres…
TEA: Thanks for nothing, folks
Tea party lovers should be rejoicing. They have managed to stop the government from collecting taxes on airline flights. That stops the government from taking hard earned money out of the pockets of citizens. But w…
LETTERS: Failing comprehension test
The shortcoming of some people is the ability to read but inability to comprehend the message.
IPUC: Complaints go unheeded
I am writing in response to an article in the July 24 Press business section entitled, "Probe of Avista electric rate request begins."
ECONOMY: In a word, impeach
I don't believe that our economy can survive another one and one-half years of runaway spending and it should be glaringly obvious to anyone with half-a-brain, that there is not the will in D.C. to change! The only…
TREES: Get to root of problem
My only source of information is what I see and hear on TV. It does seem obvious, however, that the removal of the pine trees along the dike in Coeur d'Alene is only a Band-Aid to a very big problem.

CHIEF: Wasn't Moscow trainer

LETTER: Missed intended mark
Phil Membury argues in the July 29 issue of The Press that there are no magical techniques for the wealthy to acquire more money and hang on to what they've got. He's wrong, as an example will show.
CONGRESS: That's a big C, please
Not to be a nitpicker, but did The Press make a typo in Monday's front page story? The headline in Monday's edition read "Obama, congress strike deal." Halfway through the story on page A4, the word "Congress" is c…
TRUST: It's in short supply
We have been bombarded lately from both the Republicans and the Democrats with facts (?) regarding the debt crisis. It is to the point that I don't trust any politician.
LETTER: How not to debate
The recent letter by Phil Membury exemplifies all that is wrong with intelligent thinking and discussion of an issue. Childish name calling and berating of those with an opinion different than yours solves nothing …
GUNS: Answer is call to arms
When you take a look at the shootings in Norway, one has to be repulsed at the tragedy and the madman who committed this heinous crime.
PLAYGROUND: A possible solution
I think the playground structure should be kept in. We just have to make a sign that says, "Please do not climb on this structure."
