RIVER: Show a little respect
I was saddened by the front page picture of the "Rolling down the River" article. I lived in the Silver Valley for 15 years, in Kingston, and have floated the river many times. It was always maddening to see disrespect on the river, of floaters dropping beer cans in the river, leaving their garbage on the shore, and being "stupid drunk."
We always blamed it on the "K" plates for the stupidity, but I know Shoshone residents are guilty as well. I am sure the persons guilty of leaving the trash on the shore aren't of the mentality to be reading letters to the editor, but maybe the rest of you will hear this... PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT!
What is so hard about that? I am happy to hear that Sheriff Mitch Alexander is doing what he does best, trying to convey respect, common sense and keeping our river road SAFE! No one else needs to die on the river roads because of drinking.
