Courtesy photo The Timbers North FC ’09 Boys Green soccer team traveled to Kalispell, Mont., and wrapped up their spring season by winning the 26th annual Three Blind Refs Tournament. The Timbers started Saturday beating the host club, Flathead Force Green, 4-1. Ethan Luna had a hat trick and Mason Taylor sailed one in from midfield for the Timbers. Saturday evening, the Timbers played the Calgary Blizzard to a 2-2 tie. Mason Taylor scored once for the Timbers and Jacob Melun added a penalty kick. Sunday morning, the Timbers beat the Sandpoint Strikers 6-1. Mason Taylor, Jacob Melun, Taylor Smith and Rowan Wyatt each had a goal, and Wyatt Hartzell contributed two goals. The Timbers rounded out the tournament with a 5-0 win over the Flathead Rapids Black. Rowan Wyatt, Taylor Smith and Wyatt Hartzell each scored a goal, and Brooks Judd had 2. Finneas Case and Taylor Smith were in goal for the tournament. Saturday morning they lost 4-3 to Flathead Force Black. Jack Jenkins had a goal and an assist for the Timbers. Kaden Duffield and Mitchell Rietze each scored a goal. Drake Flowers had an assist. Saturday evening the Timbers defeated Keysa Rovers U11 13-0. Drake Flowers, Parker Sterling, Jack Jenkins and Kaden Duffield each scored twice. Preston Samayoa and Karter Engebretsen each had a goal and an assist. Wyatt Carr, Jaxon Fantozzi and Collin Storey each scored once. On Sunday the Timbers beat Helena Arsenal FC Academy Blue 6-3. Courtesy photo The Timbers North FC Boys 07 Red soccer team began the Three Blind Refs tournament in Kalispell, Mont., last weekend with a 3-2 win over Flathead Force Green 2007B-SE on Saturday. Ronan Sternberg scored the Timbers’ first goal, followed by Liam Martin on a free kick and a third goal by Phillip Du. The Timbers’ second game resulted in a 1-1 draw against Flathead Rapids Black 2007B-CL. Rapids scored first; Keaton Gust scored to tie the game. The Timbers beat the Sandpoint Strikers FC 3-1 in the semifinals. Cody Kemp scored first on a corner kick by Gust. Sandpoint scored next. Another corner by Gust gave Sternberg the Timbers’ second goal. Gust scored the team’s third and final goal of the game. The finals went back and forth between the Timbers and Missoula Strikers Red 2007B-CL. Missoula scored first, followed quickly by a goal by Sternberg. Missoula scored again, and Martin found the net on a free kick. Missoula ultimately won the championship game 3-2. Throughout the tournament, Lukas Ruchti had many saves in goal. Courtesy photo The Thorns North FC ’07 girls soccer team finished second in the gold division at the Three Blind Refs Tournament this past weekend in Kalispell, Mont. The Thorns beat the Calgary Rangers FC 4-2 in the tournament opener, then went on to beat Thunder Tempest Saturday afternoon 6-1. Sunday the Thorns beat Flathead Rapids Black 4-1. With this win the Thorns advanced to the finals against Missoula Strikers, where they came up short with the Strikers scoring in the final minutes of the game to lose 4-3. Goals during the tournament were scored by Lily Bole (1), Hailey Coylar (3), Rachel Corette (4), Juliette Gilmore (1), Kennedy Hartzell (2), and Natalie Thompson (6). First was a shutout over FC Missoula White 2009G Uskoski. Tayla Ruchti led the Thorns with a hat trick. Ryann Blair, Phinalley Voigt and Nell Dodge-Hutchins scored twice for the Thorns. Sierra Sheppard scored the team’s final goal of the game. The Thorns also shut out the Flathead Rapids White 2009G-CL. Blair scored three goals, Voigt two, and Tamzyn Feierabend one. The semifinals on Sunday were a match against Thorns North FC 09 Yellow. Blair scored three goals, Dodge-Hutchins scored one. Cayden Leonard scored for the yellow team. In the final match of the tournament, the Thorns beat Calgary Blizzard SC09 5-2. Blair had four goals in the championship, Voigt had one. Maddie Witherwax was in goal this weekend. The Timbers won their second game 10-1 against Polson FC Navy, Luke Fritts with 3 goals and 1 assist, Blake Wise with 3 goals, Cale Hanners, Cole Thompson, and Grant Johnson with 1 goal each, Sam Mandel with 1 goal and 1 assist, Miles Hart and Cooper Hermes each had 1 assist, Luc Buckland and Ayden Cragun with 2 saves each at keeper. The Timbers won their third game against Big Sky Futbul 15-0. Blake Wise had 5 goals, and 1 assist, Ayden Cragun had 3 goals, Sam Mandel had 2 goals and 1 assist, Luke Buckland, Miles Hart, and Cooper Hermes all had 1 goal and 2 assists, Luke Fritts had 1 goal and one assist, Grant Johnson had 1 goal, Cole Thompson had 1 assist, Luke Fritts had 3 saves, and Ayden Cragun and Blake Wise had 2 saves each. The Timbers won their fourth game 6-1 against Missoula Blue. Luke Fritts with 3 goals and 1 assist, Sam Mandel, Cooper Hermes, and Blake Wise each with 1 goal and 1 assist, Grant Johnson and Cooper Hermes with 2 saves each, and Blake Wise with 1 save. Thorns North FC ’08 Girls Green: The Thorns traveled to Kalispell, Mont., to play in the Three Blind Refs Tournament this past weekend.

On Saturday morning TNFC beat the Calgary West Soccer Breakers 5-2. Kamryn Kirk had 2 goals. Sloan Waddell, Cameron Fischer and Nora Ryan each had 1 goal. Macy Walters, Izabella Entzi and Savannah Rojo each had 1 assist. Macy Walters was in goal.

Saturday afternoon the Thorns beat the Flathead Rapids Black 6-1. Cameron Fischer had 2 goals and 3 assists. Kamryn Kirk had 1 goal and 1 assist. Nora Ryan, Savannah Rojo and Ashley Breisacher each had 1 goal. Elizabeth Montgomery had 1 assist. Macy Walters and Elizabeth Montgomery were in goal.

Sunday morning the Thorns lost to FC Missoula King 4-2. Nora Ryan had 1 goal and 1 assist. Cameron Fischer had 1 goal. Kamryn Kirk had 1 assist. Macy Walters was in goal for TNFC.

BASEBALL

Coeur City Norsemen 12U 7, North Valley 4: Harrison Evans struck out nine in three innings, and Dylan Sutich fanned four in two innings as the Norsemen won a five-inning game at Croffoot Park in Hayden on Friday. Kolbe Coey scored two runs.

Coeur City Norsemen 12U 13, Lewiston Capitols 3: Sutich went 3 for 4 with seven RBIs and three runs scored for the Norseman on Saturday at Croffoot Park. Clayton Kennedy went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs, and Coey was 3 for 4 and scored twice.

North Idaho Pirates 12U 16, Coeur City Norsemen 12U 6: Sutich went 3 for 3 with two runs scored in the loss Saturday at Croffoot Park, and Grady Westlund was 2 for 3 and drove in two runs.

North Idaho Pirates 12U 3, Coeur City Norsemen 12U 2: The Pirates scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to edge the Norsemen on Sunday.
