The Timbers North FC Boys 07 Red soccer team began the Three Blind Refs tournament in Kalispell, Mont., last weekend with a 3-2 win over Flathead Force Green 2007B-SE on Saturday. Ronan Sternberg scored the Timbers’ first goal, followed by Liam Martin on a free kick and a third goal by Phillip Du. The Timbers’ second game resulted in a 1-1 draw against Flathead Rapids Black 2007B-CL. Rapids scored first; Keaton Gust scored to tie the game. The Timbers beat the Sandpoint Strikers FC 3-1 in the semifinals. Cody Kemp scored first on a corner kick by Gust. Sandpoint scored next. Another corner by Gust gave Sternberg the Timbers’ second goal. Gust scored the team’s third and final goal of the game. The finals went back and forth between the Timbers and Missoula Strikers Red 2007B-CL. Missoula scored first, followed quickly by a goal by Sternberg. Missoula scored again, and Martin found the net on a free kick. Missoula ultimately won the championship game 3-2. Throughout the tournament, Lukas Ruchti had many saves in goal.
