Sneakers and smiles
Kids at Boys and Girls club receive hundreds of free shoes
Kegan Strange left no doubt he loved the new Coach shoes he tried on Thursday at the Lola and Duane Hagadone Boys and Girls Club of Kootenai County in Coeur d’Alene. “Really good,” Kegan said as he held the black and blue sneakers in his arms. “Ten of 10. I’ve been needing shoes. I’m very grateful for them.” Which brought a big smile to Rita Case. “I’m so glad,” she said. “It’s so important you get shoes that fit.” Case, president and CEO of Rick Case Automotive Group, funded the giveaway of about 450 pairs of shoes and 900 pairs of socks at the nonprofit club on 15th Street.

The magic of Minnie McDonald
St. Vincent de Paul employee dies at 96
Minnie McDonald holds a record that will never be broken. The strongest of athletes, the smartest of scholars, the brightest of business leaders won't get there: 50 years with St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho. "Fifty years with a company is one thing, yet do the math," said Larry Riley, St. Vincent de Paul's executive director. "Ninety-six, less 50 is 46. Most folks in their midd-40s are thinking of giving you about 15. Not Minnie. She gave us 50." "Unbelievable," he added. McDonald, 96 died July 8.
