BUCK: Tribute to a role model
Charles T. Buck, Chairman of the Board of Buck Knives, Inc., exchanged his responsibilities in this world for his reward in heaven in early February 2015.
COURT: With whom do you side?
Christians, it is very obvious our government is not righteous. The “law” makers in Washington are not righteous or “good,” nor do they attempt to be. They no longer hide their disdain for God nor how ignorant they think we are.
PASTOR: Bible says he's right
Pastor Stuart Bryan was correct with his statement in his My Turn column the other day about perversion. People need to heed God’s laws. Deuteronomy 4.2 is one of the Bible passages right on, very correct — too much immorality is pouring into our lives and blinding people to truth. If immorality takes over people need to think where their immortal souls will go; eternity is eternal. Also, people are leaving church life more than ever, worshipping idols of materialism and putting things before God’s laws. I also want to thank Governor Otter for standing against the law manipulators of our federal courts. Keep up the good work on this matter Governor Otter, and hopefully our Legislature will vote correctly and morally on this situation!
BROOKS: Heed his warnings
Bill Brooks is a blessing to rescue those of us who have been targeted by fraud. Bill expresses a personal concern for each of us. With his column in The Press, he is alerting many of us to the real world and its devious lifestyles, i.e. fraud, etc. We all owe Bill a huge thank you for caring about humanity, for taking time to listen and to sound a warning to give us the information to avoid interference in our lives. Also, those of us who learn from Bill’s advice are grateful to the Coeur d’Alene Press for looking out for our community by way of the paper. We have all felt so safe in our wonderful community, but we need to heed the warnings now to avoid being a target.
CDA: Yes for better future
Please support a strong future for our community by voting YES on both the upcoming bond and levy.
POLICE: Tell the whole truth
Is our police chief that “pissed off” as to quit his job as chief of police in Spirit Lake, Idaho? Why do I see a county patrol blazer parked in front of his new home in Spirit Lake now every day? All that our (Spirit Lake) city government will say is that there was a difference of opinion. Nothing else.
ROSE: For Timberlake fire
I have seen Deborah Rose’s efforts make a positive impact on the lives of those who live in the Timberlake Fire Protection District. Her dedication, hard work and skill has helped to conserve much of our rural area. Ultimately, Deborah’s efforts have kept our fire district from becoming overburdened by call demands in an urban, high density environment. She truly cares about the well-being of our community and her neighbors.
POLICE: Show some respect
In regard to the letter “Police grab a shovel” by the Liningers on March 31, why is it so negative? Could you not get your idea over with a non-negative way? We are just people, and we’re prone to open our mouths before we edit our thoughts and your letter is shameful. Bashing our police officers was uncalled for. If you had to ride with them on their shifts, perhaps you’d change your minds — well, maybe. We have no idea what they face every day to protect us.
VACCINE: A positive experience
We were more than surprised to read Robin Jenkins’ experience at Kootenai Health when she went for her COVID-19 vaccination.
Kids grieve too
Children are often called the forgotten mourners.
LEVY: Fill in bottomless pit
We've paid our dues when our children were in school. We don't mind paying "our fair share" now but District 271 is out of control. They just keep digging and digging but the pocket has a hole in it. Last year what we personally paid to District 271 and North Idaho College almost totaled what the county got. Now I think the county has a few more responsibilities than the school district.
Community Thanks
STEM: Thanks community
Rocky Mountain Power will not disconnect customers during emergency response to COVID-19
SALT LAKE CITY — Rocky Mountain Power is temporarily suspending non-payment disconnections for customers to support the state of emergency response to the COVID-19 virus. With many in our communities potentially needing to self-isolate or work from home, the company understands the importance of uninterrupted electric service. The company will continue to evaluate other ways to support our customers for the duration of this quickly evolving public health emergency.
NATO: Do the math
The following is a message I sent our rep;
2020: What's next, GOP?
The new year is upon us. Time for that lovable group of scamps known as our Republican State Legislature to return and set to work again.
LEVY: Best for the most
I am a parent of two Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy students and I am writing this letter in support of the $20 million levy for our Coeur d’Alene School District. I am voting YES because I care about the future of this town. Even if my children are not direct beneficiaries of this money, it is my duty as a member of this community to support our schools, which in turn will positively impact us all.
LEVY: Meet challenging needs
My name is Jim Blazin, the Lead Pastor of Real Life Ministries North/Spirit Lake campus.
BORDER: Not the American way
In Sholeh Patrick’s article of Dec. 27 she asks, “Is this the American way?”
PASTORS: Lead peace movement — please
How are we ever going to have a peaceful society in our country if everybody keeps yelling and degrading each other?
GOOKIN: P&Z slap unwarranted
On behalf of the seven members of Coeur d’Alene Planning and Zoning Commission, I want to call out Dan Gookin for his poor theatrics.
