SCHOOLS: Meet the needs
Coeur d’Alene is the most amazing place to raise a family. It is why my wife and I chose to move and raise our family here. Our daughter is now in middle school. She was in the first fifth-grade class of the new Winton school building. We voted on the levy that helped build that new school and feel that passing the bond and levy on March 14 will benefit Lakes Magnet Middle School in so many ways.
TRAINS: Bridge to disaster
It’s summer. Let’s reflect on our wonderful lakes and rivers. Spending happy days fishing, swimming, water skiing and on our clear, clean waters.
Renee Eastman
Name: Renee Eastman
SCHOOLS: We must do better
In 1983, I read “A Nation At Risk” — A scathing report of our public schools.
TRUMP: Chisel to his legacy
Response: Letter to the editor, July 4, entitled “TRUMP: What a rush.” The author states, “I can fill an entire page with all of his accomplishments that are Making America Great Again.”
DALTON: Reasons against recall
I and my fellow residents of the city of Dalton Gardens are being asked on March 12 to vote on whether to recall our mayor and entire city council. Removing our duly elected mayor and council will not “save” Dalton Gardens. It will instead place our future in the hands of an outside authority (the Governor), who will appoint their replacements.
LAKELAND: Invest in 'Yes'
Is the investment on an education worth the money? This question is often debated. As an educator, I can understand both sides.
SHORT-TERM RENTALS: What about the East Sherman motels?
Please tell me I’m not the only one who finds the attempts by the city council to eliminate vacation rentals ironic. While they target those who responsibly operate short-term vacation rentals, they continue to completely ignore the proliferation of low-rent, fleabag motels on East Sherman Avenue.
OPEN PRIMARIES: Will strengthen political parties
Here’s a hot take: The open primary initiative will actually strengthen and heal our political parties, not destroy them (regardless of what Scott Herndon and Dorothy Moon may say). Think about it for a minute. We’ve seen a shift in the past couple of decades toward more crystalized, more extreme positions in our party system.
SAVE OUR GEM: Vote Broschet, Corkill and Zimmerman for NIC
North Idaho College is our GEM.
ELECTION: Vote for Broschet, Corkill and Zimmerman
Regarding the article titled: NIC experts weigh in — what a valuable service to our community this panel discussion was.
Myles Lawley, 2
Myles Jace Lawley, a vibrant and spirited 2-year-old boy, left us far too soon, on May 17th, 2023, leaving our hearts heavy with grief.
ELECTIONS: What to look for
My friend, David C., wisely stated, “Our system works when citizens of good character and intelligence are involved.”
NIC: Devastating losses
It is with great sadness that I read that two senior administrators at North Idaho College are leaving.
BREWFEST: Great turnout, thanks to sponsors
We would like to thank everyone who came out to our 2nd Post Falls Lions Club Brewfest & Sausage Tasting held on June 29. We had a great turnout and based on the participation and attendance we are looking forward to planning our 3rd annual Lions Club Brewfest for next year.
CAMPAIGN: Lamenting all the lies
I am fed up with all the smear and outright lies being propagated by the current KCRCC and its minions in our beautiful North Idaho! The latest being a large ad placed in the Coeur d’Alene Press paid for by one Monica Mohn.
ECONOMICS: Paint an accurate picture
In the May 2 article “Little touts support for education…” our governor continues to display his willful ignorance of the true economic condition of our state.
Liz Montgomery: ‘Family is everything’
Liz Montgomery: ‘Family is everything’
Community Thanks October 10, 2010
CHURCH: Has major face-lift
POLITICS: Unite, Americans
I am alarmed at the hateful bickering between Democrats and Republicans, and I blame the internet.
