There is still controversy as to whether or not our founding fathers were Christians, or just a bunch of old, atheistic, slaveowners.

Doing our part for our schools

I want my kids to walk through the doors of their school on Sept. 8 as badly as anyone else, but in watching the COVID-19 cases Kootenai County numbers rise, that possibility is dwindling away.

Hope, change have already succeeded

Wall Street has succeeded in the biggest premeditated heist against the Middle Class in the history of our nation. No one has yet been held accountable. In fact, President Obama had to kinda cut off our finger to save our hand by sending them billions in stimulus money. Nicely done, Wall Street.

A great example of getaway exploring

We just returned from a weekend in Montana. We used Whitefish as our “base camp” for a great hike in Glacier National Park. This is one of our favorite annual fall “getaways.” The summer crowds have lessened and while you miss out on some of the park services which close around the end of September, it is a beautiful time of year in a spectacular place.

Why we try

Since we started out we have always viewed our wine offerings as opportunities. Whether it be the collection in general, our wine club, our weekly wine special called the “Friday Night Flights,” our monthly winemaker dinners and tastings or just selections we pick, we look at them as a chance to have customers try new things. We like to introduce all of you not necessarily to things only we find pleasing, but to find a bottle of wine that expands your wine journey while meeting your expectations for what you like to drink. When we get it right, which we like to think we do more often than not, it is very rewarding.

Finding new friends and new favorites

Much of the time when we plan our monthly winemaker events, a dinner with our partners at Fleur de Sel and a tasting here at the shop, we schedule wineries that we know. We plan it this way because we know the wines and have enjoyed them for some time, and we feel our customers will enjoy them as well. Occasionally though, our distributors will come to us with a winery or winemaker we are less familiar with, one they feel will be a great addition to our shop and the wine market overall, and one they feel warrants our customer’s attention.
