I was privileged to serve in the Idaho Senate with Brad Little. In our time working together, I can tell you that no one understands this state or the issues facing us better than Brad. His knowledge is simply unparalleled — a quality that will serve him and us well as the next governor.

ATTENTION: Trespassing hunters

You are disgusting and a discredit to the ethical hunter. You are the only reason we are saying NO to access or hunting on our private lands. We are going on five years with three of our neighbors who have no respect for their fellow neighbors’ private lands. Bear season is in progress in our neighborhood. You took down signs and trespassed to shoot a female bear with a spring cub. We are in a section of Unit One where there is No Bait/No Dogs — SAY WHAT?

SCHOOLS: Take the Survey

School District 271 wants to establish its maintenance and operations levy in perpetuity (without end) and is asking for an additional $4 million.

ADDIS: For state House

I am writing in support of Jim Addis for State Representative in District 4, Seat A. I’ve known Jim for nearly 20 years and can attest that he is a man of integrity and service. He is a hard worker who is willing to take action to get things done. Jim truly wants what is best for Coeur d’Alene and our state.

3Cs: Gratitude is fashionable

On April 18, Cancer and Community Charities, 3Cs, once again held our spring fashion show. This year we named it “Fashion With a Flair” and held it in the evening at The Coeur d’Alene Resort. Silverwood Theme Park and Boulder Beach was our Event Sponsor and Derek Deis from KXLY was the Emcee. Rhonda Newton was the chairperson and Marie Widmeyer was the fashion coordinator. These were two very hardworking ladies.

VOTE: Let conscience be your guide

The Nov. 4 election allows us to choose local officials to represent district constituents’ beliefs and values on issues such as education, minimum wage and mental illness treatment. This affects us at the most personal and relevant level as whomever is elected is a citizen of our local community, familiar with local needs and issues.

POLLUTION: A serious threat

I believe that we, as stewards of the Earth, need to protect and take good care of our home and ecosystem. Pollution can come in many forms, but all of them have devastating effects on people and our environment.

PLOW: Post Falls applause

Post Falls snow removal crew, thank you once again. You folks are AMAZING. You all do such a great job keeping our streets (even the cul de sac where I live) cleared. I want you to know how much are all appreciated. I had to take my 89-year-old mom to Spokane Monday for eye surgery. You would not believe the roads over there. Awful. Horrible. Scary. Slipping and sliding. The Spokane Eye Clinic is off Bernard Street. Going up the hill was a nightmare. I have NEVER seen any of our Post Falls streets look like what I had to drive on Monday in Spokane. We are so fortunate to live in Post Falls, where keeping our streets safe is a priority.

LEVY: Error misleads voters

I appreciate this week's editorial "Listen first, decide later" and feel we have done a solid job reporting to the public significant budget cuts we have made. Sometimes we're unlucky in getting the word out.

KRAFT: Good, dirty hands

Like so many in this country, I am often disappointed with those we elect to represent us in Washington, D.C. It seems that their decisions are typically based on personal not professional choices. That is why I find my options in a local election to be a refreshing change.

LEVY: Essential to success

Please join me on March 12 in voting YES for the upcoming Coeur d’Alene School District renewal of the M&O Levy. This provides essential funding for our school district and all its services and programs that are not fully funded by state. Currently, about 22 percent of the school district’s total budget comes from the local levy, so it is critical that we renew it.

ICE: Chilling separation policy

I write to condemn in the strongest language that I can summon the current ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) policy, conducted in the name of the American people, of separating parents and children at our borders. Families fleeing violence and poverty in their own countries are encountering new trauma: Children are being separated from their parents without warning, explanation, or any information or assurance of reunification and sent to facilities ill-equipped and ill-prepared to properly care for them.

IMPEACHMENT: Just desperate Democrats

The wheels of the impeachment inquiry fiasco have barely left ground and already Hagadone’s liberal leftist paper has our president convicted (see page A3, Nov. 13) article by Jim Jones and Associated Press. Two major notes I will make: first Jim Jones’ hatred and disdain for our president gives him pause to think that the Senate trial will not be nonpartisan, however he has no concern with the Witch Hunt which has lasted for three years which has been 100% partisan and is seeking to remove a duly elected president by the American people. He, Jones, claims to preach to us what impeachment is and is not. His ignorance is based solely in his hatred for our president and his hopes for a successful impeachment of the president, which he knows will be dead on arrival on the Senate floor.

CIVICS: Lessons sadly lost

You must know that across the country history and civic courses have been revised or eliminated, to follow in line with Jesse Jackson and the likes claiming that teaching these subjects is actually “racism!” They have succeeded in getting these subjects removed. It would have been better to have a responsible Black write a couple of chapters showcasing the great things Blacks have accomplished!

Dear Coeur d’Alene neighbors, on behalf of our community’s future, I compel you to educate yourself about our upcoming levy. Vote yes for CDA schools on May 16.

NORRIS: ‘I’ll trust the sheriff’

Regarding the Oct. 5 My Turn open letter to our sheriff, we are all products of our education, training and experience. Sometimes experiences such as the author describes. I have worked a lifetime in emergency services as a firefighter/paramedic and treated rape patients from under 1 year old to octogenarian, so am not unfamiliar with violence. I am also a grandparent so share concerns about what is available to our kids, regardless of source.
