CIVICS: Lessons sadly lost

| January 27, 2019 12:00 AM

You must know that across the country history and civic courses have been revised or eliminated, to follow in line with Jesse Jackson and the likes claiming that teaching these subjects is actually “racism!” They have succeeded in getting these subjects removed. It would have been better to have a responsible Black write a couple of chapters showcasing the great things Blacks have accomplished!

As a result, most of the young people in our country know nothing about our history. The founders wanted everyone to know and love our great heritage, so as to mitigate the present lack of love and respect for our country. In looking in one of their revisions of history, the word “Freedom” was never listed in the index of the book.

I did see two pages about General and President George W. Washington, but 12 pages were devoted to Marilyn Monroe! Is this what we believe is the most important subject about our country?

No wonder so many young and older people do not love America. They do not know what a great country they will inherit, if they don’t first wreck it. Yesterday the news told that Notre Dame had canceled history classes in their curriculum. Why?

Please honor and love our great country and all the people who sacrificed for it, including the 1.1 million people who have died to give you freedom.

GEORGE RODKEY
