OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
MACKAY: Column leads to success
Thank you for publishing Harvey Mackay’s columns in the Coeur d’Alene Press. I thoroughly enjoy Harvey’s commentaries. I have followed his writings for years, and have owned his original book since the mid-’80s.
ILLEGALS: Beware when you compare
Wow, Joe Gerard. You singled out illegal Hispanics; I have lived here for seven years in Post Falls. I come from Southern California. I am a white, blonde, blue-eyed German/English. Parts of Coeur d’Alene look horr…
BULLIES: Fines aren't sufficient
“Punishing” the bullies — finally a headline that caused me to go “YES!” But then I read the details.
RIGHTS: They apply to everyone
Fascism: severe economic and social regimentation and forcible suppression of opposition (Merriam Webster: New College Dictionary).
SHOOTINGS: Respect goes both ways
Regarding recent police shootings and behavior. I agree with several retired police officers, who wrote in about too much activity for such a small town. These events are red flags that signal something is wrong wi…
DISABLED: Looks can be deceiving
Recently while shopping at Fred Meyer a very nasty note was left on my car. I noticed a man hanging around my car while I unloaded my kids from the van and placed my handicapped placard in my mirror. I assume I did…
PARKING: Honest error is punished
My husband and I went downtown to meet some old friends for dinner at the Iron Horse on Friday, July 25. We went through the Iron Horse parking lot, but it was full. We were running late and went further down Lakes…

ABORTION: Not just one dog
Yes, I agree: There’s no excuse for shooting Arfee, leaving the scene and lying about Lab/Pit mistaken identity. However, in the midst of all the outrage about Arfee, I wonder — where’s the outrage and compassion f…
VANDALS: Champs where it counts
I agree with J.C. Chud (Vandal: Director has a losing record) that Mr. Spear is responsible and accountable for the success of the University of Idaho athletic program. However, I believe that his performance shoul…
GOP: Hypocrisy will backfire again
Hey Republicans, let’s shoot ourselves in the foot some more!
Cd'A: Another reason to love it
Thursday morning, my daughter called me just after 6 a.m. Heading out to work, she placed our 7-month-old granddaughter in her car seat, gave her the car keys to play with, shut the door, went back in the house to …
