GOP: Hypocrisy will backfire again

| August 6, 2014 9:00 PM

Hey Republicans, let’s shoot ourselves in the foot some more!

How can the GOP defend a multi-national American corporation just willy nilly decide to declare itself at home in a lower taxing, new foreign corporate country with just 20 percent of their shareholders overseas, but we get all worked up over amnesty for central American children who ride the top of a freight train the length of Mexico to avoid a life of severe poverty at $6 a day pay? Amnesty for corporations who want to find a loophole to repatriate perhaps a trillion dollars in off shore idle cash back into the U.S. is swell, but the huddled masses need to stay somewhere deplorable. Good thinking!

While I know our white flight destination called Idaho, where one in 225 Americans lives, may seem an insurmountable conservative majority locally, the fact remains our whole four electoral votes or our four Congress people really don’t matter that much to the other 49 states. And why all of Idaho’s loathsome foursome in Washington, D.C., staunchly defend extending the inversions available to corporations to leave our shores (where they marry up with a foreign company to offshore profits and labor) but condemn minor children for wanting to come here is confounding. Both CEOs and central American children love the U.S. But the former wants to leave, at least for tax purposes.

And while I know it is always easier to condemn than it is to care, it’s who Republicans are condemning that will virtually guarantee another Democrat in the White House on Jan. 20, 2017.

Or didn’t you remember that BOTH Romney and Reagan won 60 percent of the white vote?

I didn’t think so.
