MARINE: We must get behind him

| August 8, 2014 9:00 PM

Enough! I have heard enough in the news about the marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi. He has been held in a Mexican jail since March 31 for an accidental crossing into Mexico with guns in his possession. It was clearly an accident especially in his confused state of post traumatic stress disorder — there was no criminal intent. This could have happened to a member of our own family, or to you, in fact.

The Mexican government is dragging its feet and have also mistreated the prisoner. We have heard nothing from our president to help this situation, though some of our congressmen have taken notice and are attempting to intervene. A new court case was scheduled for Aug. 4.

What can you do? This could have been your son, your nephew, your brother, your grandson. What would you be doing if it were? We have to be heard; this is unacceptable; this man needs to be released so he can get the help he needs here in America. He fought for our country and now we need to fight for him.

You can sign a petition online by We the People to demand release of Sgt. Tahmooressi. You can petition the White House and our Idaho congressmen through whitehouse.gov by sending either an email or a letter to be delivered for $3 each. And, you can pray for this man, his family, his lawyer, the authorities and our government officials for an immediate resolution of this wrong. Prayer and action can change things. But we each must do our part! Americans need to be heard on this.
