Cd'A: Another reason to love it

| August 6, 2014 9:00 PM

Thursday morning, my daughter called me just after 6 a.m. Heading out to work, she placed our 7-month-old granddaughter in her car seat, gave her the car keys to play with, shut the door, went back in the house to get our 5-year-old granddaughter and when she came out, you guessed it, the baby had pushed the lock button on the key fob and locked herself in. We arrived a few minutes later, and saw our granddaughter inside, out of her car seat, standing at the door, grinning at us. She just never pushed the button again. No one had a spare key.

In panic, I called 911 to see if the police could come and open the door. The 911 operator told me she could dispatch the fire department to come out and break the window. Heck, I can do that. I called Sunset Towing and told them of our plight. They told me they could be there in less than 10 minutes. The owner of Sunset made it in about six minutes, opened the door and we got the baby out. We tried to pay him for the service call, but he said, “When I heard a baby was locked in a car, I just dropped what I was doing and came right over.”

Kudos to Sunset Towing! Just another reason it’s nice to live in a small community like Coeur d’Alene.
